Perhaps you're a busy professional juggling different responsibilities, or a parent with little time for yourself?
You might be a therapist who's looking for CPD that's a bit different, or a book-lover who is curious about themselves!
In my innovative bibliotherapy service I combine decades of experience as a person-centred therapist with my passion for literature as I invite you to sit with me online and explore your relationship with books.
You'd be amazed what you can learn about yourself through exploring your reading life.
Whatever your circumstances I suspect that, like most of us, you find it hard to prioritise your own wellbeing, and would welcome an insightful space for self-reflection, self-development and self-care.
Finding something that's easy to access and asks nothing of you but to sit in a quiet comfortable place of your choice while being guided through an exploration of your relationship with books, could be just what you need!
"cathartic, eye opening and one of the best things I’ve done on my journey to get to know myself better"
What to Expect
In a confidential, one-hour session, I’ll help you reflect on what reading means to you. Together, we’ll explore the books that feel memorable to you, the stories that resonate, and how they connect to your life experiences. You'll be free to divulge as little or as much as you are comfortable with as we uncover insights into your thoughts and feelings.
Why Fiction Prescription?
A Personalised Approach to Bibliotherapy
Your experience of reading a book is as unique as your experience of life. No-one will imagine characters or empathise with them in the way you have. This is not an issue-centred book recommendation service; it's a person-centred exploration - and you're the person.
Guided Self-Reflection
We’ll explore the emotional and psychological connections between your life and the books you’ve read or are reading, helping you uncover new perspectives.
Why me?
Experienced and Professional
As an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I work sensitively and ethically and have over twenty years of experience. You're in safe hands.
Passionate about People
My 'passion for people' is at the heart of all I do. No two people are the same and I respect and celebrate the uniqueness of each person I meet.
Passionate about Books
Books offer us a window through which we can see and understand ourselves more clearly. I'm dedicated to helping people flourish and grow. Literature can be transformative in a very non-threatening way.
Types of sessions available:
Fiction Prescription £55
one hour online exploration of recipient's reading life
personal Fiction Prescription - the title of a book I feel will resonate with any insights that have surfaced
30 minute follow-up session
Bibliotherapy £45
one hour online bibliotherapy session bookable one at a time, giving space to reflect on and explore your emotional response to a current or recent read - how a book is 'landing' with you, and why.
Many clients begin with a Fiction Prescription but return for bibliotherapy sessions when it suits them, particularly if a book has particularly moved them or touched something difficult for them. I can of course offer regular sessions too.
